Reflecting on a Year of Challenges and Achievements
As 2024 wraps up, I’m taking some time to reflect on how far SAY Concepts has come. It’s hard to believe we’re approaching our 5th year in 2025. Honestly, this year has been full of ups and downs, and it wasn’t just about the business. My personal life collided with my professional goals, bringing a lot of uncertainty. There were moments when I questioned myself, wondering if I was cut out for this. I even had doubts about whether running a business was the right path for me. Now, looking back, I realise those moments of doubt shaped me in ways I couldn’t have predicted, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Taking the Leap: Leading Beyond Comfort Zones
This year, I took a big leap forward with SAY Concepts, something I had always envisioned but hesitated to pursue. As a younger leader, I often questioned whether I had the credentials to take the company to the next level. There were moments when I felt like I was standing on the edge, torn between taking a risk or staying in my comfort zone. However, I gradually learned to take small yet deliberate actions that pushed me beyond my limits, helping me grow personally and professionally. The journey wasn’t immediate, and there were no clear answers along the way.
Beyond the Work: Engaging with the Bigger Picture
Taking an active role in this journey involved stepping beyond just delivering work and truly engaging with the bigger picture. It wasn’t just about getting the job done; it was about taking the initiative to understand the broader needs of our clients, forging meaningful relationships, and actively seeking opportunities for growth. It meant being purposeful and mindful in my decisions, rather than simply reacting or going through the motions — particularly in an agency setting where deliverables are constantly being churned out.
Breaking New Ground
A major highlight of 2024 was our expansion into healthcare projects. This was a significant leap for us, and I remember feeling both nervous and excited when we were first referred to a healthcare project. However, the trust our clients placed in us, along with further referrals, gave us the confidence to break into this sector. Looking at the work we’ve done now, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved. It’s been rewarding to apply our marketing expertise in a variety of fields beyond hospitality, proving that we can adapt and deliver high-quality work in new, complex industries.
Looking Ahead: Exciting Horizons
I’m truly grateful for the chance to connect with so many inspiring leaders across hospitality, healthcare, and other industries. Their willingness to place their trust in us, despite not having a decade of track record, means the world to me. It’s a testament to the power of relationships, belief, and shared vision, and I’m thankful for every opportunity that’s come our way because of that trust. As I close out 2024, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment. It’s been a year of growth, challenges, and valuable lessons.
